The Ylub had serious concerns when the Landlord expressed interest in joining for a Yak. His background is Jamie Matthews’ worst nightmare; a former front rower that likes road cycling, open water swimming and playing scrum half. The mind boggles.
Yet when Le Bisset’s traditional coordination malfunction led to a 4km run back to the car being required, Mr Murray stepped up and put it away quicker than Strutt with an Evening Delight. The impressiveness of this 4km one-rep-max was enough to secure the Bat D’or on only its second Ylub appearance.
The shadows are certainly a sad place for such a prospect to lurk, but until the Yak shortage of 2020 subsides, The Landlord will need to satisfy himself with a place in the 2s.
